Holding On – Gay Fiction by Michael Joseph

June 21, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Special Guest Post by gay author Michael Joseph.
gay fiction by Michael JosephIt was right around two years ago this month that I first opened a file for what would become Holding On. At the time, I thought I was just jotting down a scene that had been going around in my head for a week or so. I hoped that if I wrote it down I could get it out of my head so I could get back to work on Journey To Rai-Lay, the sequel to Journey To Angkor which I had released the year before. I figured it might be part of a short story or something I could come back to later.

Silly me. [Read more…] about Holding On – Gay Fiction by Michael Joseph

The First Cut Is the Deepest: My favorite story?

June 14, 2013 By Brandon 1 Comment

Welcome to the blog my friend and fellow author, Jack A. Urquhart.  After a little pleading Jack agreed to come by and talk to us about his favorite book, and I’m glad he did.

Jack A Urquhart June 2013Asking a writer to identify a favorite story from their “literary” portfolio is to my mind akin to asking a parent to name their favorite child—which is why, I expect, so many authors respond by saying: “It’s whatever I’m working on.”  I confess that when Brandon Shire suggested I pen a guest post to answer that query, my initial response was the same.  However, a perusal of personal archives dating back decades pointed toward a different conclusion.  From that enterprise I learned that I had revised one story more often than any other—some twenty-three times, in fact, over the years following its initial 1992 publication.  The story is Irises, Purple Irises. CALEO_Leech-Book1_Poster with text

Hello my name is james crawford author of the Leech series, a paranormal adventure about a boy who is the school outcast, who is bullied and picked on for being different. This boy, Caleo finds out that not only is his part of a magical race of people known as Leeches but he is their born leader known as an Angel. Not all the leeches are happy about him taking his rightful place and Caleo finds himself running for his life with his foster family and a mysterious man that Caleo can’t help but fall for. It’s a wild adventure about a boy who goes from zero to hero.

For the month of June I am donating $1.50 for every eBook sale of Caleo  Leech: Book 1 to GLBT Advocacy & Youth Services.

You might not like my writing if – by Sessha Batto

June 7, 2013 By Brandon 2 Comments

Like most others, I have a to-be-read list about a mile long, and I can always add to it, but never quite seem to whittle it down any. Sessha Batto is an author I’ve been watching for a while and I invited her to the blog because I haven’t read her but I like her style, her content, and her unabashed quirkiness. She proved that I need to pick up one of her books (right now) with this special guest post.  ~B.

Sessha w tattooBrandon very kindly asked me to be on his blog and I instantly said yes. Then, of course, came the question – what do you want to do, an interview, and excerpt, a guest post? He admitted he hadn’t read any of my work and was interested in a guest post so he could learn more about me. So, in the spirit of revealing all about me . . .

LGBT Authors Coming Together for a Cause

June 4, 2013 By Brandon 2 Comments

LostandFound_250

It is a given that my blog is always open to authors who give back to the LGBT community, so it is a wonderful surprise when I come across a press and an entire group of authors who are as passionate about LGBT youth homelessness as I am. That they randomly chose one of the same charities that I donate to was well… Let’s just say I could use a lot of very positive emoticons here to display how happy I was. ~B.

Hi, I’m Kris Jacen, the Executive Editor for ManLoveRomance Press (gay romance/mystery/paranormals) and its two imprints, Passion in Print Press (traditional romance) and Featherweight Press (Young Adult and children’s stories). I’m also a mama. I have two beautiful daughters that, although they can try my patience, I can say that I love unconditionally. It won’t matter to me one wit if at some point one of them tells me that they love another girl or even if they think they maybe should have been a boy. They have brought immeasurable joy and love into mine and my husband’s lives. So I think it was the “mama” in me that reacted first when I was approached about LOST AND FOUND. My Favorite Book – LGBT Author Rick R. Reed

May 28, 2013 By Brandon 3 Comments

Welcome Rick R. Reed to the blog. He’s here to talk to us about which of his books is his favorite, and why.

Rick R. Reed, AuthorWhen you begin to lose track of how many books you’ve had published, it’s really hard to say which one is your favorite. It’s like asking Mrs. O’Farrell, a staunch Irish Catholic who lived next door to us when I was growing up which of her nine children was her favorite.

“They’re all my favorites,” I imagine her replying, “Each for a different reason.”

And the same holds true for me and my books. But today I am thinking about Chaser probably because its sequel Raining Men comes out on May 31. For its humor, its insight about body image (and the gay ideal or lack thereof), and its theme of attractiveness being a highly personal and relative thing, Chaser truly is, of my own stuff, one of my favorites.

Since its publication back in August of 2012, I’ve gotten many letters from readers thanking me for introducing a romantic hero who is not the ideal. See, the object of desire/affection in my story is Kevin and Kevin’s a little overweight. The “chaser” in the title refers to the gay lingo term for men who prefer their men on the meatier side: chubby chasers. [Read more…] about My Favorite Book – LGBT Author Rick R. Reed
