The UK lesbian band Eeek was just in the studio in January and I’m sure you’ll be hearing much more from them soon.

LGBT Music Monday – Barry Brandon
If you haven’t heard of Barry Brandon yet, don’t worry, you will. Not only did he just release his new CD, Etcetera, on iTunes, but he is also one of the Sing for Your Life mentors & creators. And if you haven’t heard of that yet… Well, from my perspective, I think this is going to easily become one of the regional attractions for the huge music scene in Atlanta, with (hopefully) a particular emphasis on upcoming LGBT musicians.
Just as Raven’s Music blog stated, Etcetera definitely has an alternative electro-pop feel to it. As most of you know, I love all kinds of music, so if it can invigorate me, then so much the better. Etcetera is already in my Listen To While Writing playlist. [Read more…] about LGBT Music Monday – Barry Brandon

A Reverse Lolita or Gerontophilia – LGBT Film
Bruce LaBruce’s new film Gerontophilia poses an interesting question. What happens when an 18 year old boy discovers he has a fetish for the aged and gets a job in a nursing home? This appears to be more than just a ‘daddy complex’ film. The young man is straight but develops an intimate relationship with an old man, setting them off on a journey of escape and illumination. It’s already being labelled as a gay Harold & Maude, but personally I’m hoping for a bit more than that. We’ll have to wait and see. You can see Bruce LaBruce’s video message below and you can learn a little more about the film on Indiegogo
The Psychopath Test – Do Writers Fail?
I’m pretty sure most of you are familiar with the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). I actually have a copy on my shelf as a reference book.
The DSM comes in quite handy for writing (as well as for figuring out WTF is really wrong with your relatives.) As a writer, you already know that all your family members characters are listed in there somewhere. It is simply one of those must-have reference books you can’t be without.
But as a writer, the DSM is also a bit of a Pandora’s box. Really, I kid you not. Who else but a writer can get away with telling everyone they hear voices, and then spend months cooped up in a small room piled high with crumpled papers, cigarette smoke curling around your head?
Neatness hinders creativity you tell yourself, and this is a writer’s cave. Anything goes here. There are no rules except the sanctity of solitude, the smell of hot ink, and that goddamned two-foot high DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door, which must be obeyed.
