Read the book blurb

Prison is a brutal, heartless, and demeaning environment. No one knows this better than a man sentenced to life in prison for murder. Lem Porter is a high-profile prisoner who had a solid career ahead of him in a field he loved until he killed his brother. He has spent almost eighteen years behind bars and doesn’t have much hope left.

Anderson Passero had it all.  He built a career, a name, and a relationship with a man he thought he loved. Only after he very publicly landed in prison did he realize how ignorant he’d been. He has eight months left on his sentence and he is eager to go home and put prison life behind him. He doesn’t know it yet, but he will always carry these eight months with him, and they may just help him to understand what love really means.

Interview with LGBT Author Carey Parrish

March 29, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Carey Parrish

Welcome Carey Parrish to the blog, my friend and fellow author. We’ve gone back and forth on social media but I’ve never really had the chance to chat with this amazing man. Today, we changed that. Hope you enjoy.  ~B

Of the books you have in print, which one is your favorite and why?

I would say my novel Big Business. It’s a sequel to my first novel Marengo. The reason I feel so proud of it is because I tackled the most complex plot I’ve yet written about with that one. I brought back characters from Marengo, who proved to be very popular with readers – I was still getting emails asking for more of them almost two years after Marengo was published – and I put them all in a heftier plot with a lot more intrigue and danger. I also introduced some new characters which I had a blast creating in my mind! The whole thing flowed like honey once I finished my outline and my research, and really started writing the book. And I was really proud of the fact that even though it is a sequel, it stands on its own; you don’t have to read the first one to enjoy the second. I plan to do more with this series. Interview with LGBT Author Gareth Russell

March 25, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Gareth RussellWelcome Gareth Russell to the blog. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Gareth is an Irish YA author, published with Penguin and MadeGlobal. He is also a historian sought out by the media and is working on a third novel and a nonfiction book on the history of British royalty.

Welcome to the blog Gareth. Can you tell us a little about your Popular series?

Thanks for having me. The “Popular” books are a 6 book series with a comedy-drama theme. Two of the books are now published. The gay romance between Blake and Cameron, two of the central characters, is one of its main story-lines and I plan to have it run through all 6 books. Their storyline is in some way about portraying a hopeful or optimistic depiction of teen homosexuality. I hope ultimately that it’s a story of love that everyone can invest in. Brian Centrone, AuthorWelcome author Brian Centrone to the blog.

Some of my readers may not be familiar with you Brian, please tell us a little about yourself.

Thanks for the invite Brandon, I’m glad to be here. I lived for three years in Manchester where I got my MA in Novel Writing from The University of Manchester. I teach writing and literature in New York and Ohio. I am a big pop culture junkie; I love fashion, music, art and literature. Creativity fuels me – always has. I am a very private person though my effusive personality might suggest otherwise. [Read more…] about Interview with LGBT Author Brian Centrone

My Favorite Book – LGBT Author Suzie Carr

March 1, 2013 By Brandon 2 Comments

suzie-carr-noh8I was so honored to be asked by Brandon to contribute to this special blog series on LGBT writers. Brandon asked me of the six novels I’ve written, which is my favorite and why? Hands down, one of my favorite books I’ve written is The Muse, a lesbian romance novel that deals with the tough subject of bullying. I released it in December 2012 and have received some really inspiring feedback from readers.

The book is about how a provoking set of tweets from a beautiful girl (Eva) challenges an insecure girl’s (Jane) sense of identity. At twenty-nine, my character, Jane Knoll, is convinced that she will never experience her first kiss. Bullied as a teenager, she lives life under a veil of insecurity and loneliness. Her social life consists of television reruns and a weekly laundry night with her neighbor, Larry. Then, hope rises when Jane starts following her beautiful, magnetic co-worker Eva on Twitter.
