LGBT Music Monday – Matt Alber

mattalber- contant crowsSometimes it’s just better to let the music speak for itself, but you should be aware that this openly gay singer/songwriter started his singing career in a church in Missouri. Needless to say, he chafed against the animosity he found there and has become a profound musical talent in his own right. His latest CD only solidifies what many in the LGBT community already know: he’s freaking awesome.

You can find Matt Alber’s touring schedule on his website, connect with him on Twitter or Facebook, or purchase his CD from CDBaby.

A Voice for LGBT Country Music Fans

LGBT country music Maybe you’ve heard of Drake Jensen. Maybe not. Maybe, like me, you’ve never been a fan of country music and equated it with rednecks and bigotry. But there are new voices in the country music scene, and there are old voices dispelling the idea that all of country music is anti-LGBT.

I can’t quite remember where I bumped into him on the web, but I had a listen and I was convinced that I need to give country another listen. And maybe I need to stop equating the music with the people who listen to it and claim it as their own rebel yell to ugliness.

Drake’s brand new video (below) told me it was exactly that time. Check it out.

LGBT Music Monday – Eeek

The UK lesbian band Eeek was just in the studio in January and I’m sure you’ll be hearing much more from them soon.
