Interview with LGBT Author Gareth Russell

March 25, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Gareth RussellWelcome Gareth Russell to the blog. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Gareth is an Irish YA author, published with Penguin and MadeGlobal. He is also a historian sought out by the media and is working on a third novel and a nonfiction book on the history of British royalty.

Welcome to the blog Gareth. Can you tell us a little about your Popular series?

Thanks for having me. The “Popular” books are a 6 book series with a comedy-drama theme. Two of the books are now published. The gay romance between Blake and Cameron, two of the central characters, is one of its main story-lines and I plan to have it run through all 6 books. Their storyline is in some way about portraying a hopeful or optimistic depiction of teen homosexuality. I hope ultimately that it’s a story of love that everyone can invest in. My Favorite Book – LGBT Author Elizabeth Noble

March 15, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Welcome Elizabeth Noble to the blog. She’s here to tell us about her favorite book. As I did with many of the guest authors I’ve had here before, I asked Elizabeth to pick her favorite from one of her own books. And she was nice enough to give us an excerpt too!

Elizabeth Noble

Thank you for having me today!

I have lots of favorites that revolve around my writing. A favorite way to write, as well as a place. Favorite things to surround myself with when I write, but an actual favorite book? I nearly gave myself hives trying to pick a favorite book of mine that I’d written. How could I possibly do that? It was like saying pick my favorite child.

Each book has its good and bad from the point of the writer. The book I’m most excited about is the one I’m currently writing. The book that gives me a warm gooey feeling (the thank heavens it’s done feeling) in my stomach is the one about to be released. But a favorite among the books already published, that was hard. So, I employed my variation of an age old technique. I stood in front of the framed versions of my covers, closed my eyes and went eenee, menie, miney, moe. Interview with LGBT Author Brian Centrone

March 12, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Brian Centrone, AuthorWelcome author Brian Centrone to the blog.

Some of my readers may not be familiar with you Brian, please tell us a little about yourself.

Thanks for the invite Brandon, I’m glad to be here. I lived for three years in Manchester where I got my MA in Novel Writing from The University of Manchester. I teach writing and literature in New York and Ohio. I am a big pop culture junkie; I love fashion, music, art and literature. Creativity fuels me – always has. I am a very private person though my effusive personality might suggest otherwise. [Read more…] about Interview with LGBT Author Brian Centrone

Special Guest Post – Author Kia Zi Shiru

February 15, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Kia Zi ShiruBlack Sheep TourThank you so much for having me here today, Brandon. Today I’ll be talking a bit about how my own life and the life of people I know or read about got mixed up within the writing of the Black Sheep Trilogy.

Black Sheep over all deals with a few over reaching themes: abuse, self mutilation, depression and, most of all, love. What I’ve experienced within the LGBT community is that almost everyone has to deal with these subjects either for themselves or because of friends at one point or another. They are strong themes and I might have overestimated the impact some of these things have on one’s life and how to express them properly within my writing. Interview with New LGBT Author Edward Jakab

February 12, 2013 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Edward Jakab
Welcome first time author, Edward Jakab to the blog. Since it is so close to Valentine’s Day I thought we would talk about young love, and Mr. Jakab’s first book, Fearless, is about just that.
B: Tell us about how you got started and where Fearless came from?

E: I first started writing screenplays; they were always about this guy named Jacob Moore who is based on me.  I wrote the book mainly because the story needed to be told. I just kept going back to those couple of moments in my life when everything was great with my first boyfriend, but then that took me to the time I told him about the other guy and how guilty I felt. But the other guy, he was the one. I know people say that all the time about everyone, but I truly feel he was the one, and he still is in some ways.
