Gay Film – The International Version

I enjoy gay cinema, particularly foreign gay cinema which to me, often seems so much richer than what’s usually produced here in the US. So here’s a spotlight on just a few. Hope you enjoy.

Boys Like US – Germany

Rudolf, Gabriel and Nicolas are best buddies and very similar. They’re not just all in their thirties and gay, but also lovable, big-city neurotics. After an abrupt end to a relationship, Rudolf wants to leave Paris. He wants to get his life back on track, and the best place for this mammoth task seems to him to be the picturesque place of his birth in the Austrian mountains.
When Gabriel and Nicolas learn of his plans, they quickly decide to follow. This charming trio is not clear what lies ahead …

Scrum – Australia

The lives of a self-assured Canadian jock, a chubby Irish backpacker and a stoic Japanese outsider change when they vie for a position in the gay rugby world cup.

Candy – Korea

Gay teen Candy can’t seem to make friends at high school. He is drawn to Cheolsoo, who is also a loner, but neither has the ability to save one another. Candy, now an adult, is living with Cheolsoo. He goes to meet his First Love, so he can get rid of an older man who is annoying him, but the former eventually deserts him. In the end, it is Cheolsoo who accompanies Candy to meet the older man, but Cheolsoo cannot help Candy.
